Summary
Brickwork allows you to edit customer-facing email content sent out by the platform. This content is sent out when certain configurations are enabled in Brickwork, and typically is sent in conjunction with Appointments and Events.
Brickwork email content combines static content - information that is the same for every email - with dynamic content that is customized according to the variables included in the particular email. This document describes basic email content editing in Brickwork.
Finding the Right Content to Edit
In the Brickwork Admin go to the “⚙ ” icon and select "Email Templates".
From here, you can identify which email you would like to edit by reading the subject line and messages of each in the list, and then selecting "Edit" to customize the content above each button respectively. For example, to edit the Subject line only of the first email in the list, the Nps Survey, I would select this Edit button:
What is the %{} character in my email?
Brickwork uses a syntax of %{variable_name} to show information that is substituted for these characters when the email is generated. This may be a field like %{store_name}to indicate the name of the store or %{user_name} to indicate the name of the user. Each email you can edit has a different list set of available variables to use, based on the specific type of email being sent (ie. an Event email versus an Appointment email).
To see which variables are available for each email, when you click in to Edit, you will see the following "click here to see the list of available variables" at the top of the page:
If you have questions about any of these variables or are unsure of which email is the correct one to edit, please contact support@brickworksoftware.com for assistance.
How do I turn off a customer-facing email?
If you do not want a certain type of email going out to your customers, a Brickwork Support representative has the ability to turn it off for you upon request. Otherwise, you will be able to see if an email is "live" and sending to customers by viewing the "Email State" located above the subject line, as seen below:
How long will it take before I see my email changes?
Due to website caching you may see your changes within 10-20 minutes, and many changes are applied immediately.
How do I customize other words and notifications in Brickwork?
If there are other words or emails you would like to change, such as internal-facing email notifications and content, please refer to our "Translations" article. Settings > Translations shows you the list of available translations in the product that can be substituted for other customer-facing content as well.
